Conference Gift

The client, a law firm, was going to be attending a conference. They wanted a bag so that people would have a way of collecting the materials that everyone else was giving out. This photo was taken months later when I bumped into a client of the law firm and there their were using the bag
How do I decide which size tote bag to order for my conference?
Great question -- and honestly, there's no one-size-fits-all answer, which is exactly why we love talking this through with clients before they order. That said, here are some general guidelines to get you thinking:
A smaller tote (around 13" x 13") works well when attendees will primarily carry a program, a notepad, and a few lightweight giveaways. A medium bag (15" x 16") is the most popular conference size -- roomy enough for a folder, water bottle, and assorted swag without feeling bulky. A larger tote (17" x 14" or bigger) makes sense when you're loading it up with a branded kit, product samples, or heavier items like books.
The right size also depends on the nature of the conference, who the attendees are, and how the bag will be distributed -- at registration, at your booth, or pre-packed. Every situation is a little different, and we're happy to walk through the details with you to make sure you're not paying for more bag than you need (or ordering one that can't fit everything you want inside).
What materials are tote bags typically made from, and does it matter?
It matters more than most people expect! Here's a quick overview of the most common options:
Non-woven polypropylene is the most budget-friendly choice and works well for high-volume orders where cost is the primary driver. It's lightweight and printable, but it has a less premium feel.
Cotton canvas is a perennial favorite -- it's durable, has a natural look that people actually want to reuse, and it prints beautifully. It's a strong choice when brand impression matters.
Recycled materials (like rPET, made from recycled plastic bottles) are increasingly popular, especially with companies that want their giveaways to reflect a sustainability commitment. They're a great conversation starter at your booth, too.
Jute and natural fibers offer an earthy, distinctive look that stands out in a sea of standard totes -- ideal when you want something that feels a little more thoughtful or boutique.
The right material depends on your budget, your brand values, and what message you want the bag to send about your company. We're glad to help you think through the tradeoffs.
Will the bag actually get used after the conference, or will it end up in a drawer?
This is the question we wish more people asked before ordering! A tote bag that gets used repeatedly is essentially a mobile billboard for your brand -- every grocery run, farmers market trip, or gym visit puts your logo in front of new eyes. One that ends up forgotten at the bottom of a closet is just a sunk cost.
The difference usually comes down to a few things: quality of construction, size that fits real life (not just conference day), and a design that doesn't scream "freebie." People hold onto bags that are sturdy, attractive, and genuinely useful.
We work with clients to spec bags that attendees will actually want to keep -- because a well-chosen tote that travels the world for two years is worth far more than a cheaper one that gets tossed on the way to the parking lot.
